Duemani is an outstanding Biodynamic estate on Tuscany’s Mediterranean coast. It was planted as Biodynamic from 2000 by Elena Celli and Luca D’Attoma. Elena was born in Lucca in Tuscany, studied marketing and worked in the fashion industry. Luca was born near Florence, Tuscany and is a qualified oenologist. His oenological consultancy company is called Wine Evolution Consulting. Due Mani’s wines are made under the Costa Toscana denomination.

The name: Duemani means ‘two hands’, in this case the owners’ two pairs of hands.

Vineyards: The project began in 2000 with the purchase of an uncultivated piece of land in Ortacavoli, on the outskirts of Riparbella at approximately 200 metres above sea level in a west-facing amphitheatre overlooking Tuscany’s Etruscan coast. The highest altitude vineyard was planted with Cabernet Franc, and has the richest soil. Lower down there is more Cabernet Franc and then Merlot. Where the soil becomes more arid and stony Syrah was planted (as bush vines or alberello). In June 2005 another hectare was planted, bringing the total to more than 7 hectares (17.3 acres). In 2014 3 hectares (7.4 acres) of Cabernet Franc were added, bringing the estate’s total vineyard to 10 hectares (24.7 acres). The vines were planted at 8,400 vines per hectare (3,400 vines per acre).
