DOMAINE LÉON BOESCH is a Biodynamic winery in the Haut-Rhin or south part of the Alsace region of France.

BACKGROUND Eleven generations since 1640. Currently Colette and Gérard Boesch (and his sister Marie-Anne); their son Mathieu Boesch and his wife Marie.

VINEYARDS – OVERVIEW 10.5 hectares (25.9 acres) of Gewurztraminer (20%), Riesling (19%), Pinot Gris (19%), Pinot Blanc (18%), Sylvaner (5%), Muscat (2%) and Pinot Noir (16%).

BIODYNAMICS Sprayed Horn silica 501 for the first time in 2001. Use Prepared horn manure 500P to “get the preps out”. Make a little compost using cow manure from a neighbour. Use Bacillus thuringiensis, clay powders (Myco-Sin) and plant-based sprays.

CERTIFICATION 2003 First vintage with full organic certification. 2012 First vintage with full  Demeter certified Biodynamic certification. 2017 Still Demeter certified.

WINERY, WINEMAKING In 2010 inaugurated a new bio-climatic winery made of stone, straw and wood in Westhalten to replace the one in Soultzmatt. Hand picked. Pneumatic press. Foudres.
