Dievole, or Fattoria di Dievole is an organic estate in Vagliagli, a locality (‘frazione’) in Castelnuovo Berardenga in the Chianti Classico DOCG region of Tuscany, Italy. Dievole’s origins date to 1090. It was purchased by Mario Schwenn’s father in 1979. In 1990 the first wines were marketed, from the 1987 vintage by extrovert Mario Schwenn. In 2013 Dievole spa (the German-Italian Schwenn family) sold to Blends Wine Estates. Wines made include Chianti Classico DOCG reds and Vin Santo del Chianti Classico DOC.

Owner: Dievole is the flagship estate of the Italian section of the Alejandro Bulgheroni Family Vineyards group.

Vineyards: 2018 630 hectares (1,557acres) of land in total including the vines which cover 99ha for Chianti Classico and 52ha for IGT Toscana.

Chianti Classico DOCG, Dievole: 2015 90% Sangiovese, 7% Canaiolo, 3% Colorino. | 2016 13.5%. Nice crunch (Anteprima 2018). Bright fruit (Chianti Classico Boot Camp 2018). 

Chianti Classico DOCG, La Vendemmia: 2010 90% Sangiovese, 10% other. £8-14.99. Evolved orange peel aromas, balsamic, nice tannin, simple and enjoyable (Brinze, DWWA 2013).

Chianti Classico DOCG, Petrignano: 2019 100% Sangiovese,

Chianti Classico DOCG, Vignale: Vignale is the name of the vineyard. | 2018 100% Sangiovese.

Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva, Novecento: 2008 90% Sangiovese, 10% other. £15-29.99. Quite a flat nose, but plenty of ripe crisp fruit, violets and tar, dense but has leveity although tannin a bit dry at finish. 15 Points. Bronze (DWWA 2013). |  2013 Bottled. | 2015 95% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo and Colorino. 14%. Fairly rich, needs time (Anteprima 2019). | 2016 Bottled.
