Cingoli is a commune in the province of Macerata in Le Marche, a region on the Adriatic coast of Italy. White wines can be made under the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico DOC and Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico DOC Superiore denominations. Cingoli is known as the Balcony of Le Marche. This is thanks to its vast panoramic terrace on the castle walls. From which the view extends over most of Le March, including to the Adriatic Sea and Monte Cònero (see Cònero). The town is considered among the most beautiful in Italy. The main street is Corso Garibaldi. It overlooks the Palazzo Castiglioni. Here Francesco Saverio was born, passed into history as Pope Pius VIII, and important family heirlooms are preserved. The important patrician house was built at the end of the XVII century but also considerably altered in the central years of the XIX century.
