Castello di Meleto is an organic estate Località Meleto in Gaiole-in-Chianti in Tuscany, Italy: Red wines are made under the Chianti Classico DOCG. A Vin Santo del Chianti Classico DOC is also made.

Background: The estate is near the town, not far from the boundary between the ancient Republics of Siena and Florence. The castle originally belonged to the Benedictine monks of the Abbey of Coltibuono. Meleto was originally a Florentine fortification against Siena. The name “Meleto in Chianti” is mentioned for the first time in 1269 in the Libro degli Estimi of the Florentine Guelphs as a property of the Rainerii de Ricasoli family, also owners of the Castello di Brolio. Over the centuries the Ricasoli family enlarged and improved the structure. The castle retains both its massive fifteenth-century fortifications with the imposing cylindrical tower built against the artillery, and the noble villa with its furnished and decorated rooms and its eighteenth-century theatre. In 1968 the Ricasoli family sold Castello di Meleto (Meleto Castle) and the surrounding estate, which covered around 1,100 hectares, to the Società Viticola Toscana.
