Buccia Nera is an organic estate in Arezzo province in Tuscany. It produces Chianti DOCG and Chianti Superiore DOCG red wines, and a Colli dell’Etruria Centrale Vin Santo.

Vineyards: 50ha of vines (plus 50ha of woodland). 80% Sangiovese. 20% Merlot, Ciliegiolo, Canaiolo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Trebbiano Toscano, Malvasia Nera, Grenache, Malvasia del Chianti, Grechetto, Sauvignon blanc and Chardonnay. 200 to 650 metres above sea level. South, South-West. 3,00 mt x 0,80 , 2,50mt x 0,80 and 2,40x 0,70mt. The training systems are the spurred cordon and the guyot for the Chardonnay and the Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards are located in different areas and on different types of soil, mainly consisting of stones and gravel, well aerated with spaces deep down, made with a mixture of clay, sand and limestone.

Chianti DOCG, Podere della Filandra: 100% Sangiovese.

Chianti DOCG, Guarniente: 100% Sangiovese. | 2014 Again, a bit too extracted, lacking brightness and clarity (Millésime Bio 2017).

Chianti DOCG Riserva, Buccia Nera, Tenuta di Campriano | 2013 85% Sangiovese, 15% Merlot and Cabernet. Bronze at DWWA 2016. | 2014 A bit extracted (Millésime Bio 2017).

Chianti Superiore DOCG, Sassocupo: 2014 90% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo. Slightly green nose. Nice crunchy firm palate, plenty of red cherry fruit, does finish a little green though, slightly “stemmy”.

Toscana Rosso, Camprianese: 100% Sangiovese.

Sweet white wines

Colli dell’Etruria Centrale Vin Santo: 2009 Malvasia Toscana, Trebbiano.

Other activities Grappa, Olives: 12ha of Moraiolo, Frantoio, Leccino and Pendolino.
