AGRI-PUNICA, also known as Agricola Punica, is a joint venture on the island of Sardinia (‘Sardegna’) dating from 2002 which involves the Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia Group, Sardinian winery Cantina di Santadi, and Santadi’s President Antonello Pilloni, and the late oenologist Giacomo Tachis. The concept Tachis had was to marry Sardinian Carignan Noir (‘Carignano’) with international grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon. Agripunica started by buying two estates called Barrua and Narcao, in south western Sardinia, in an area known as “Basso Sulcis” (within the Carignano del Sulcis DOC).
